When shopping for DDR2 667 what's the difference between PC2 5300 and PC2 5400. I was doing some memory shopping on NewEgg and they have both, will either work in whatever MOBO I end up getting? or what????

I have questions, you have answers

PC2 5400 is usually listed as DDR2-675. Both DDR2-667 and DDR2-675 will work in a DDR2 capable board.

just rounding differences. the "PC" speed is defined as ram mhz * 16, so 200mhz is pc3200, 266mhz (ddr2-533) is 4256, which is rounded to pc4200 or pc4300

same thing happens to pc5300/5400, 333mhz * 16 = 5328.. some companies round up, some round down... though dark is right, sometimes pc5400 sticks are actually ddr2-675 instead of ddr2-667. so weird. either way, it'll default to ddr2-667

Thanks! Now if only that PC5300 open box special was still at NewEgg
