steveng said:I hope they will post the firmware for download which is the smartest thing to do.
Oldie said:Well I can't argue that. In fact depending on the actress, less quality may be a good thing.
Unfortunatley, I believe this would involve removing a chip from the monitor internals and rewriting it using an external device. There's likely not an external connection that could be used to update the infrormation on the chip.
Firewall said:Shoot, so what do we do if we don't have the problem?
Snowdog said:If you think you monitor is flawless why do anything. Go through the time/aggravation of a panel swap when you already have one you think is perfect. That just seems nutty.
steveng said:Hopefully someone will get an answer from the furom mod soon, so that I can tell Dell Canada what I want to do with my monitor. wondering why the forum mod didn't talk about text blur.
Smashed Ixnay said:After telling him it's a fact that the 2007 and 2407's have issues and telling him about the 21 day no question asked return policy he said I can only get my money back and I was right about that policy. He still insist it's a computer problem and that the monitor is fine.
I feel like doing that because this is just a hassle and I don't want to keep paying for shipping and taking chances before I get a good monitor.
the customer reps and even tech support don't really give a $hit about any technical problem. when you phoned, you should just keep your problem as simple as possible. tell them the monitor is "defective". because "ONLY" defective items are qualified for full refund.Smashed Ixnay said:After telling him it's a fact that the 2007 and 2407's have issues and telling him about the 21 day no question asked return policy he said I can only get my money back and I was right about that policy. Here is the new Dell sticky at the top of their monitor forum. The message that was linked to before was deleted.
run the banding test. if banding still exists, then u would know the problem hasn't been fixed and the firmware is not updated.Noah said:Not knowing of any issue, I ordered my monitor Thursday and it shipped out Friday. What are teh chances I get out in the clear (no banding issue)?
EDIT: Is there a way to tell whether I have the newest firmware? The mointor will be here tomorrow.

before getting the full refund for my first 2007wfp, i was on the phone with the tech for almost an hour trying to explain what banding was. i got the sense that as long as your computer is working, regardless of text blur, banding or any internal problem, they would not refund your money until you use the word "defective". just my 2 cents
LOL no problem. good to hear that you are getting your money back.T00L said:I a mid-return right now...I called, gave information (name/addy/order#) ... they asked what i need, I said that I need to return a defective monitor and that the colors are "blotchy" she then said have you contacted tech support, I said yes (not really) and that they had recommended that I return it.
They are picking it up tomarrow
thanks for the defective advice
