Well damn. After using dial-up since I built my first PC about 10 years ago they finally get DSL service out to my area. Qwest has service for sure, and I assume others do also. Any ISP's you guys can recommend? Also, since I have been on dial-up I have only used a software firewall, should I be looking into a good hardware firewall? God I am so excited, now I can actually put my computers to use :D .

For finding a good ISP, I recomend you look through broadbandreports.com. I've been on speakeasy.net for the last 2.5 years, and they have been pretty good.

As for firewalls, I tend to prefer a dedicated hardware device to do packet filtering than rely on software. Plus, if you get a broadband router, you can plug more than one computer into your LAN and still have internet access for all of them.

Looks like I'll be going with Qwest DSL @ 1.5Mbps down and 896Kbps up. Still haven't decided on a firewall.
