Hey guys, i'm looking to pull the trigger on this 60" samsung LED TV, however im seeing a difference in model numbers. For example the UN60EH6000 is on amazon for $1,626 no tax/shipping. My local costco has a UN60EH6050 for $1,549 + tax ( 9-10%ish) instore.

I can't seem to find out what the difference is between these two, is the UN60EH6000 a 2011 model, and the UN60EH6050 a 2012 model?

Any help would be much appreciated.

No i'm not going to use this as a monitor, but this is the most appropriate forum I could think of posting this question in.

Thanks

They are both 2012 models, also I recommend going with a UN60D model, the 2011 models have better picture quality than the 2012 models.

Regardless, to answer your question there is no difference. It all depends on who you buy it from. Places like Costco and Sam's Club will sell different model numbers than places like Bestbuy. Samsung makes the models specifically for stores like Costco and Samsclub. Another example is Amazon sells a 2011 model UN46D6400 while Best Buy sells a UN46D6420. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I know Samsung makes different models for different types of stores, but they are exactly 100% the same television. Buy from either store, but I suggest getting a 2011 model, they have better picture quality, but if you can, go to Bestbuy and look at the 2011 model compared to the 2012 model (or Costco if they are still selling the 2011 model).

I really appreciate it Doug. Can you go into some more detail about why I'm better off with a 2011 model?

I'm not terribly concerned about negligible differences in picture quality if it means more $$. I am upgrading from a 60" samsung DLP from like 2007.

I'm not sure if the 2011's are cheaper or more expensive, but frankly I think the 2011 models are just flat out nicer than the 2012 models. I have the 2011 UN46D6400 like I said, it's picture to me is much better than the 2012 models. If you go to a store and can look at both you might see the same. To me it's a significant difference to be honest, but to others it might not be, if the 2012 model is cheaper I'd probably go ahead and go for it, but if you can get a 2011 model on sale from best buy or something while they are selling out there remaining 2011 stock, you can't beat that deal. As for the size you are looking for I just don't know at that size as the biggest I've gone is 46", but I think if you aren't looking to spend much more the 2012 model will be your choice, because the 60" 2011 models at the cheapest for the 6400 series is $2,200 and the comparable to your model the UN60D6000 is about $1,800 new.

I think what you need to figure out is what you want in a television. Keep in mind the model that you are looking at is the lowest end model for the 2012 LED lineup. That means no apps or smarthub, web browser, etc. It really is just the television and nothing else. The ES6100 and ES6500 model are the next model up the only difference between the two is the 6500 is 3D.

In conclusion, you might want to price watch on these televisions if you can, because they like to go on sale considerably a couple of months after release. I bought the D6400 release week last year for $1,400 and it was on sale within two months for $1,200 and less including a 3D bundle which I had to buy separately which was an extra $250.

I ended up getting it from amazon. I'm aware that it's not 3D, no apps, etc. I honestly don't need any of that and I'm glad Samsung has an offering for people like me that have other devices that handle all of those things. Appreciate your feedback.

I paid $1,626 shipped (prime) via amazon, no tax :O)

Yep, not a bad price for a 60 that just came out. If you never had the 2011 model you'll never know there was a difference.
