Different cards in SLI?

Can someone tell me a little more about SLI?

• I woundering if I can use SLI with 2 different craphic cards as long the cards have SLI.
• If I have to use any special motherboard just to use SLI abillety

And if I can get any more information about SLI I would be glad

Well for now you need an Nvidia chipset to run SLI, I remember reading that intels x58 may support it with that extra chip but don't quote me on that.

Currently you do need the same type of card to run SLI.

(2) 280's

(2) 260's

(2) 8600 GTS... whatever.

You cant run (1) 280 + (1) 8600 GT in SLI.

We have the Big Bang II comming up, so this may change.

In Sep we get the Big Bang II drivers. Nobody knows what will mean exactly.

If they alter SLI in only one way I'd rather it be multi-monitor support.

Though I wouldn't mind this Hybrid SLI, it'll give my spare 8800GTS 320 something to do.

you could always just run it as a physx card...
