does DVI to HDMI produce 0-255 values

Hi all,
just yesterday one of my CRT's gave up.
So, thinking of replacing it with a 32' HDTV, as a secondary display for clients.
What I need to know is if an HDTV can display the full 0-255 luminance ranges or just the video safe 16-235 when connected to a pc using DVI to HDMI.
