I've heard that leaving a computer on causes less wear on the parts, but what about rebooting? Does that just reboot in a software sense? Or do all the hardware also reboot as if you turned it off and turned it back on?

id say that the longer it is on the more wear and tare, because your fan is working, and so is your harddrive, etc. Rebooting shouldnt cause any extra wear and tare as far as Im aware. If you are concerned with wear and tare, which you shouldnt really be (this PC I have is 6 years old and it is basically never turned off and works fine), then just turn it off if you dont need it
