Drive wont show up in 'Computer'

Hi, I just got a WD 640gb internal hd. I put it in an Asus external enclosure and plugged it in to my Vista x64 laptop via USB. Now, when I want to view it in 'Computer', it does not show up. I see my C: and D: drives but not the external. Although on the remove hardware icon it shows up as USB Mass Storage Device.

When I go into Device Manager it shows up under disk drive labeled as USB drive. what do i need to do to be able to put files onto it.

You probably have to format the drive using Disk Management.

Right click "Computer" -> select "Manage" -> select "Disk Management" on the left pane -> right click, "Format" the disk in the list. If it's not initialized, initialize it and then format.

Once it's done, it should pop up in Computer along with its very own drive letter and ready to be used.
