Dual channel question

I got my new rig (AMD64 3.0+) up and wasn't really paying attention to the dual channel part. I bought 1x512 stick. How much faster would it be if I had bought 2x256?

This is the stick of RAM I bought. Is it a good buy?

depends on if u bought the 939 or 754 3000+

its only a 2-5% overall gain in real world applications when the amd64 uses dual channel. its mostly due to the onboard memory comtroller.
