Dual display not enuf --> how 'bout a sextet display

http://www.digitaltigers.com/displays-atlas.shtml
http://www.digitaltigers.com/zenview-atlas19s.shtml

Composed of (8) 17" or 19" LCDs

Can't wait for the release of the 8 display versions using 24", 30", 56" LCD panels :D

Imagine 8 of these 56" displays (each is QuadHD resolution):
8 x (3840 x 2160) --> 64 megapixel display! (Dell 2405 is ~2 megapixels)

(Westinghouse is planning to sell a monitor based on that 56" QuadHD LCD panel by the end of 2006)

 and you can hook it up to your 32 high definition video outputs...

Dude I'm totally buying one, and then I'm going to run one full-sized AIM window on each screen, and type from 12 feet away.

what a fucking rip off, you could pay about $4k to $5k tops for that, im in the wrong biz

6x Dell 2407s would be way cheaper and almost the same, but regardless...it's fucking cool.

Bwahahaha

That'd be nice, well, nice over this 15" CRT.

.

for another $200 you could have them like that though

But deos that display that's composed of 6x24" LCD use 1-2 DVI connections..making it more "special" than buying 6 seperate 24" LCDs? Otherwise...where are you going to get 6 outputs? SLI = 4 outputs...?

Or you're supposed to hook it up to different computers??

Exactly...they aren't 'glued' together. It just uses a 6 panel mount which you could make (if you have the resources) or buy.

You have to use a PCI card also. That's assuming you have 2 16x PCI-Express slots with 2 dual DVI cards though and the PCI card is also dual DVI. You could cut the back end off a PCI-Express x1/x4/x8 slot and use another PCI express card at less bandwidth too I think.

or use that quad pci-Express board by Gigabyte, 8X8X8X8X and throw on 4 1900xt's (ati fan I am) and you have 8 DVI outputs!!!

Yeah, I forgot about that thing... The quad royal or something right?

Quick question. What kind of job (or life) do you have where you need a 6-8 monitor display?

CAD / CAM designers ( :) )
Photo Editors

Err....even those it;s cutting it close. Two 2405's is more than enough to suffice. Hell, even ONE.

Traders use that many monitors alot. I could use that many but I get by with what I got.

just imagine the 3d rendering....1 24" screen for every dimension..
Er......It doesnt work that way.....

Only if you happen to be in that certain viewpoint. If you rotate, that goes out the window :/

If ONLY it were that easy...

Que? It would be pretty cool to have that many monitors for 3ds max or something like that. one big viewport for top, front and side views, one for oblique, one for modifiers and driving constraints, plus a few for cameras, haha.

You notice that in one picture, one of those 8 monitor displays has a bunch of line graphs and stock tickers and whatnot. I assume they are marketing this to big business types who think they actually will be doing crap like that sitting at their desk. Too bad most of them still don't know how to turn a computer on much less use more than one monitor.

Computer programmers need it.

The more screen realestate you have in front of your eyes, the less stuff you have to keep in short term memory in your head.

For this much money however, I'd rather hook up 6x 1024x768 DLP projectors into an array and create a 3072 x 1536 workspace on a 15 foot diagonal screen. Easier on the eyes and your desk could be something like a recliner with a keyboard tray.
