DVR-only hdd?!

The mode pages are probably optimized for continuous data transfer being favored over data transmission integrity.

Back in the old days (and probably still today) when I was building RAID's for high-end Mac Video Production stations, that's the way we would set up the mode pages. The data integrity would be relaxed in favor of continuous transfer.

Missing a few bits when the drive is used for data storage is unacceptable.

For digital video use, a few bits will never be seen or missed. However, a glitch in the video flow due to a re-train or callibration is unacceptable, especially in professional video production.

I would never use a video-optimized drive in a data storage environment!
