dxdiag problem in vista (32bit)

im running vista ultimate 32 bit and im having problems with dxdiag. some reason it wont collect any info on my machine (System Manufactor, System Model, BIOS version. Processor, Display Manufactor, Chip Type, DAC Type, Driver and Version Type for the video card)

anyone see anything like this? i cant seem to find any work arounds for this.

I had some DirectX issues when some game I'd installed ran the installation routine for an antiquated rendition of DirectX (and wasn't stopped). Running the latest download (even though it isn't for Vista) addressed the issue, though I'm not sure why it should...
