Dying Light 2

It's getting ridiculous. Especially since they make more money by selling for less, by making up for it in volume, as there is next to no unit cost associated with digital distribution. You are only paying for bandwidth and electricity per unit.

PC game prices drop pretty fast so waiting for a sale is rarely a bad decision...plus the game will have gotten multiple patches by then

as far as Dying Light 2, I'm leaning towards getting just the base game for the current sale price of $35.99...the 1st expansion/DLC doesn't look all that great if it's just an arena combat mode

Honestly, I'm surprised you haven't bought it already. It has raytracing, after all.

I'm going to buy it...been busy with other games and I'm more patient now with waiting for a few patches and sales...but will most likely pick it up with this current sale which runs through Sept 6th...I hear this has one of the best RT implementations...

The majority of issues the game had when it released have been fixed. My only issue with it currently is that they made the standard biters glue to you when they get within grabbing distance. They are really grabby and it is now really annoying to try and clear out things on the street like military outposts. Once a biter decides it wants to grab you there is no way to avoid it.

Lead designer gives some general info on the expansion in response to a critical video.

There tech support sucks, after asking me to reinstall the game and it not fixing the problem they stopped responding to the email chain.

I hope that PC in your signature isn't what you tried running the game on.
I can't see my signature so no clue what is in it at this point, I would hope a 5900x, 6900xt, 32 gig of ram, and a 2tb nvme drive is good enough to start and play a game which I was able to 4 months ago.

your signature shows: FX 8320 4.4GHz / H100i AIO / Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 rev.4 / 8GB Corsair ram / Gigabyte 6870 1GB / Seasonic 550 PSU / Silverstone RV03 case

I almost picked up the game during the last Steam sale but I'm glad I held off...I figured it would be going on sale again during the upcoming Steam Halloween sale...seems like the game is constantly being improved and it's better to wait

Anybody else experience dizzyness or anything? I've tried all the settings on the planet and within a few minutes of moving around I feel nauseous with this game, it started on day 1 and I gave it up to now and retried and same problem.

Have you tried changing the FOV? My normal FOV with other games made me sick in this game so had to turn it down.

The issue with the FOV adjustment in DL2 is it adjusts both the hFOV and vFOV at the same time, creating a weird fisheye-like effect where things appear further away than they actually are if you increase the slider adjustment. The vFOV needs to stay fixed. We also don't know what the starting value is, so "-10" and "+20" may as well be arbitrary values. One thing is for sure, the default hFOV is too damned narrow, but the zoomed out feeling of increasing the FOV value makes things worse than the default.

40% off is a nice deal...$35.99 is a much better price than $59.99

I ended up holding off and not buying it during the last sale but the game is on sale again on Steam (part of a bundle with Dying Light 1 Enhanced Edition)...if you already own the first game then the price drops to $29.99...this time I'm definitely going to buy it...50% off is a great deal...I don't see it dropping any lower anytime soon, even during the Steam Winter sale

I had a feeling it was going to go on sale again during the Halloween sale so I'm glad I waited

There's something weird going on with that bundle.
The DL1 they've bundled is the Enhanced Edition for $30. However the Definitive Edition is $10... So you can just go buy the DE by itself for $10, then go buy the DL2 bundle for 50%. You save money and get a better version of DL1. It's also cheaper than buying DL2 by itself for $60, it's currently not on sale at all.

They've bungled the bundle and it's also possibly a pricing error.

I finally bought this today through the Steam Halloween sale...$29.99 is a great deal and I don't see the price dropping any lower anytime soon...

like with most games nowadays it seems noticeably improved over the launch day version...almost always better to wait a few months...I bought it for 50% off last week and I'm happy with that price

some nice changes of note:

-The Nights in The City got darker! Overall darkness is way deeper than before
-Ray-tracing VRAM consumption reduced (up to 1G)

So finally picked up DL2 and it's not bad. Different than the first and it's at least keeping my interest. Massive world, graphics pretty good even if I have to scale back some due to my Gfx card. Overall it's not bad, but a couple things are bugging me. I'd call it lazy game design. Yes huge areas, but some of the missions are highly redundant. The missions to open up fast travel are almost identical. It's like the game designers lift and drop to each area on the map. Lot of repeatable interior designs that are much like that as well. I still think RDR2 may have ruined me because i keep comparing their game design to others games, and they just don't hold up most the time.

Again not a terrible game, just not as good as I was expecting. Will finish.

That was my thought with the game. I mostly played it because of the graphics, but I still think it was a massive downgrade in gameplay compared to the first. DL2 gets boring really fast, and it's mostly because there is basically no difficultly to the game unlike the first game. When the sun went down in the first game you were fucked if you weren't near a safezone. In this game there are just far too many safe zones throughout the map, and it's not like you're being actively hunted as much anyways.

That is correct. I was scared at first in DL2 (just like in DL1) when the sun went down. But pretty soon after, i figured out pretty easy to get the attention of the screaming viotale, run near a black light area and kill as many of them as I could. LIttle too easy. Some of the jumping areas to reach the top areas are annoyingly hard, but overall yeal, repetitive and easy.

Fence sitters like me appreciate this although the sale prices are compelling.

RDR2 is a pretty high bar that I don't expect to see matched or exceeded anytime soon.

I had the same reaction, but then later reflected I was never really scared at night again in DL1 once I got the grappling hook. I was a gingerbread cookie with a machete. You can't catch me, and pray you don't, because the fight will be on my terms.

Both really fun games well worth playing IMO, but the first was better, whatever that means, to me.

Nights in the first game are still tense later in the game. I think they just did a better job with audio and visual design than the second. My issue with DL2 is there really being no reason to play the game during the daytime unless you have a quest that requires you to do so. The daytime gameplay is so lethargic in DL2.

I didn't personally experience that first sentence much, and not a pissing match, but just hopefully "I have seen things" - I played full DL1 at least 4 times. I felt the reverse-difficulty-curve very bigly, except for canned experiences which remove tools.

Everything else, I completely agree.
