I ordered a couple 60 rotary 1/2"id enzotech barbs from frozencpu. When I opened the first one it was immediately apparent that it was not 1/2"id. When I measured it, it was 7/16". The package it came in clearly stated 1/2"id.

To shorten the story I called up and emailed enzotech. They stated that the ridges on the barb were for 1/2"id tubing - not that the barb actually had a 1/2" inside diameter.

Every 1/2" barb I've ever bought had an actual 1/2" id up until now.

for those who want the long story and pics:

I thought 1/2" barbs were for 1/2" ID hose, Meaning the OD of the barb is 1/2"

So far enzotech is the only barb I've had that was like that. All others had an actual 1/2" inside diameter. I've got barbs from several different manufacturers in my system now.

If the outside diameter of the barb is only 1/2" a 1/2"id hose isn't going to be very tight. I was able to put a 7/16" id hose onto the enzotech pretty easily.

Frozencpu is letting me exchange them for bitspower rotary barbs which are actually 1/2"id.

Here is a schematic from swiftech's 1/2" barb
http://www.swiftech.com/G1-4Barbs.aspx

the widest part of the barb, is a bit over 1/2" while the main shaft is 1/2" OD. As you can see the ID of this 1/2" barb is actually .4" and that is completely normal. Fitting are nearly always measured buy the ID of the hose they are meant to attach to. so A 3/4" fitting, doesnt necessarily have a 3/4" ID, it is meant to couple a 3/4" ID hose
