Does anyone out threre know if some manufacturer plans on releasing a board with both PCI-E and AGP to help ease the upgrade costs for us mortals. A friend of mine has a 9800 pro but a shitty CPU and motherboard. He wants to upgrade but wants to be able to buy a CPU and motherboard where he can update his video card later and not have to buy all the equipment all over again.

There are plans for this type of motherboard, however the AGP slot will function along the lines of a normal PCI slot making that 9800 run a lot slower.

some mobo makers are putting a 4x agp slot on the pci bus so that you can drop agp cards in(the case with intels new chipset so far) but theres a preformance hit and the saturation of the pci bus is bad.

via's pt890(or kt890 i cant remember) is suppose to have both pcie and agp(a real agp slot, not one hosted on the pci bus) which is probably the option you should be looking at because it seems like its aimed at people in your situation.
