Everest shows that my 4850 is only running at PCI-E 4x ... not sure why this is, but it might explain why I get a bit of slow down in some games at higher res. Does anyone know how to enable 16x pci-e? or should it do it automagically?

edit: oh yea, motherboard is a Gigabyte 790fx board.

Go download gpu-z and see if it says the same thing if it does then I would check your bios to see if it is set to be like that in your bios, if it does change it to be 16x instead of 4x.

i downloaded GPU-Z and it says the same thing. PCI-E 16x capable running at 4x.

I went into my BIOS and there is no such option to enable 16x .... am i screwed?

I would make sure spread spectrum is disabled also see if there is a newer bios version.

i don't see anything about spread spectrum in the bios and i am using the latest F6 bios from Gigabyte

fixed - swapping to a different PCI-E port and reinstalling drivers fixed the problem. Games a bit smoother now under heavy fighting/load
