Is there a device that you could plug a CAT 5/6 cable in that would send the magic packet to a particular IP address (or even mac address)? I'm wanting to do this without using a computer and was wondering if there is a device to pull this off.

Thanks!

Maybe your router or another computer is the only piece of hardware that can do this function (last time i checked my mates ddwrt router has some sort of wake on lan thing on it)
I doubt there are any little boxes that are dedicated to wake on lan though.

you can control WOL with m0n0wall, which means you could setup a computer to be a WOL magic packet maker machine.

Yeah most homebrew routers have some sort of wake on lan client on them.

But you still have to use a computer for this though.
