Explorer.exe crashes constantly(win xp home)

Hi,

Whenever I open my computer or control panel, my explorer.exe crashes. I also cannot open any folders. I can only open programs like msn messenger and for some reason internet explorer. anything else causes explorer.exe to crash.

anyone have a fix for this?

If you have your Windows XP disk, boot up with it and do a repair. I'd just do that cuase its quick and easy.

Can I do a repair on win xp home with an xp pro cd?

right click on your hard drive in My Computer and choose tools>check for errors, it will reboot and fix errors. Try that first.

if you can't open my computer do it from the command line

start>run>cmd>chkdsk C: /F
