I just purchased a new MBP, and plan to piece out my old desktop PC, but I've got to get a lot of music/video/misc. files off of it and don't want to clutter up the MBP's HD.

1) What's your recommendation for a good external HD for me store music & videos on?

Also, since I just spent and ungodly amount of money on it,

2) What is a good case you guys have used to protect it? I don't want a huge back, but something small with a strap and maybe a pocket or two.

I can't help you with the external hard drive (I got an internal one cheap on sale and an enclosure), but for a bag, I'd check out Crumpler:

They've got a lot of different types, different sizes and they are well-made. I'm on my second one (just ordered the new 17" MBP) and I don't know that I'd get a computer bag from anyone else. The best part is that they don't scream computer bag. They aren't the cheapest out there, but the quality of the bags is more than worth it, IMO.

Crumpler bags are really nice. I got a Timbuk2 backpack for pretty cheap, and it works for me.
