External Video Card w/ A Desktop?

I'm planning on using an odd kind of case for an SFF build (old Apple G4 Cube) and I was wondering if it's possible to do an external video card to help with space limitations and heat down?

Reading this on building one but that's for a laptop. I'm thinking that it could just as easily work for a desktop though.

Any thoughts?

Go for it.. Should actually be easier since you can probably find a riser/breakout cable for the pcie slot that you can use with a desktop.

I think one of these Express Card to PCIe adapters might do the trick...

pretty much what I was thinking.. Except the pic has the 2nd slot on the target being an x1 or x4, not an x16.. Either way better then the x1 slot adapter above.
