I give up and humble myself before you.
I have a msi g33m.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1184&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=170
its got the ICH9/ICH9R Chipset. I want to run xp in sata native mode. Using both the intel site and the msi site f6 disk, xp can not see the hard drive. The f6 disk loads up 4 sata controlers to choose from, none of them will alow xp to see the hard drive. Loading up every sata controller in the f6 list at the same time doesnt work either. I even tryed using a slipped streamed xp disk with the aug intel drivers on there that works with my 945 board, still no go. Any ideas?
On the other hand vista installs no problem with the f6 disk. My last thought was to see which drivers vista uses, write it down, install xp in ide mode, and force xp to use the wrote down driver for hte stock ide driver, then switch to sata native and boot and hope for the best.
