I got an xp-90 heat sink and a panaflo 92mm fan. SHould I mount the fan in a way that it pushes air towards the xp-90 and the cpu or away from them?

Thanks

I believe most of them push toward the heatsink. I don't have a xp-90 so thats merely speculation...

A heatsink transfers heat to a larger surface area, so it makes sense to pull that hot air away.

On my XP-90, my fans blows air down towards the CPU. Helps to cool the ram too which gets some leftover air after it runs through the heatsink.

like the aerosmith song...

Going down.

And don't be a dufus like I was if your cpu fan is really close to the case outlet fan reverse its direction too, that cost me 5C in prime 95 having two fams fighting one another.

I have read so many conflicting opinions on this. I plan to pull the air away from my XP120 when I set it up. I think that it will draw the cooler air up, and exhaust it out the back of the case. I believe Thermalright says either way is effective, so experimentation is the only way to know for sure.
