fastwrites?

Well I'm reading contradictions on fast writes all over. Is it better to have fastwrites on or off? I have read under the right situations it's great? but now I see overclocking sites saying it should be off. Does anyone know the true answer?

I've heard that some games and applications with it improve with it on while others suffer...I've heard so many opinions about it that I'm not really sure what's truly better myself.

That's for old GF2 cards, but I'd imagine it's still the same concept for the newer cards.

I would recommend that you turn off fast writes. When I turned them off on my computer, the stability of my videocard (a radeon 9800 pro) went up and I could overclock 15 more mHz. I can't tell you technically what fastwrites do, but i do know that your video card will be more stable if you turn them off.

I think the radeon 9200se/9600 series are on by default, and the reccomendation is to leave them on unless you expierience instability. However, if you have anything else, disabled is the way to go.
