I was considering get a Blu-Ray reader (Lite-on) at Newegg for about $200. My monitor is a 22' 1680x1050 resolution. I'm aware that this would be downscaled to 720p while watching any DVDs or Blu-Ray discs.

1.) Will 720p Blu-Ray still be worth it (in terms of visual quality) than 720p DVD, or do you have to run in 1080p to take full advantage of high-def?

2.) Both my monitor and GPU are HDCP compatible, but is there a special connector to use? I'll be using DVI, but I wasn't sure if there was something else that would be needed in terms of the connection.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject and thanks for taking the time to help :)

1 - 720p from a high def source will look much better than a regular DVD upscaled or not.

2 - if both your monitor and graphics card are HDCP, you just need to connect them with a digital connection (HDMI or DVI)

If you don't have an HDCP link in the chain, just use AnyHDDVD and get around that issue fast. It's worth it's weight in gold.
