File for soft-modding 4.9 Catalyst Drivers...

Okay, I've got the following setup...

Shuttle SB61G2 (Intel 865 chipset MB)
Intel 2.4c CPU running at 3.06 GHz (255 FSB)
512MB (2x256) GEIL "Golden Dragon" PC3500 DDR Ram (running about 205 MHz)
Sapphire 9500 128MB non-pro video card
200GB Seagate HD
onboard sound and networking

Also of note, I have a Sony 17" Widescreen LCD, so I have a custom resolution setup in the Doom 3 .cfg file of 1280x768.

All the following framerates came using timedemo demo1 from the console with Medium Quality settings, with seta image_cacheMegs "96" and image_cacheMinK "500".

Cat 4.7 cracked
1280x768 26.5 fps
1024x768 32.1 fps
800x600 43.1 fps
640x480 49.2 fps

Cat 4.9 non cracked
1280x768 28.5 fps
1024x768 19.4 fps
800x768 29.6 fps
640x480 39.6 fps

Cat 4.9 cracked
1280x768 37.3 fps
1024x768 38.0 fps
800x600 47.0 fps
640x480 49.3 fps

So the 4.9's cracked definately work for me. Though I'd still like a 9800XT. I think with Medium Quality settings I might be able to run at 1280x768 around 45 fps, which HardOCP reports is a decent framerate to play at. One thing is for sure, battles were nearly unplayable with the cracked 4.7's and 1280x768. :(
