fire gl $$$$$$$$$$$ whats so special about them??

hi i dono if im just stupid but i dont see anything spectacular about the fire gl cards. whats so great about them that the price is so high?

A large part of why the price is so high is their support and warranty. These are not consumer level cards - these are designed to be used in high-end workstations. High-end workstation parts have a quick response time to support issues, and they are supported under professional-level applications. Your garden variety consumer card might take a week or more for an RMA, and may or may not support a high-end modeling app for instance or Autocad. These cards are guaranteed to work with professional apps, etc, and would be replaced/fixed much much quicker if they had a problem.

yup........ you're basically paying for a special opengl driver, and top-tier tech support...... the hardware is identical to desktop stuff........
