Formatting a laptop HDD?

I know it's a stupid question but I thought I'd ask before I screwed up someone’s laptop.


Can you format and install a fresh copy of Windows XP on a laptop. I've format c:\ my desktops thousands of times, but I know laptops have proprietary hardware so I thought I'd just throw the question out there.

yes, im sure all modern laptops will boot via cd. You should be fine.

I just formatted mine. It's an Acer TravelMate 2601.
Acer included a driver disk along with the recovery CDs so I figured I was set. When Xp finsished the install everything worked - all drivers native to XP. Pretty painless.

Just format it like you normally do on a desktop pc.
