Free Enterprise IM?

I'm looking for a free internal only IM program, if one exists. At my previous job with HP, we used Jabber, but I don't recall that being free. I have several servers available for "hosting", and the company is 32 people total.
 
Hmmm...I have that available as a TechNet download. I could give it a whirl and see if I like it before we would consider buying it. We're a small non-profit, so I'm hoping for something free.
 
Jabber servers can be free, depending on which server you're getting.

jabberd is an open source jabber server.
jabberd2 (unrelated to jabberd) is another one.

And of course, you can use any client that supports the jabber protocol like Pidgin/Gaim.

Wildfire is a cool little jabber server. I use it with the psi client. Free.
