he has a 128MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) FX Go5600, and everytime he tries to update his drivers it says:

"the NVIDIA Setup program could not locat any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit"

anyone know why it says this?? does this mean he can never update his drivers??

just for note, his rest of his specs are:
– Pentium(R) 4 3.06 GHZ w/HT
– Microsoft(R)Windows(R) XP Pro
– 1.0GB DDR SDRAM(2X512MB)
– 60 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
– Microsoft(R) Works/Money
– 2x DVD+RW/R and CD-RW Combo Drive
– 54g Wireless LAN
– 17" WVA WXGA+ (1440x900)
– 128MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) FX Go5600
– 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Laptop video cards use seperate driver sets than their desktop equivalents. It doesn't mean he won't ever be able to update the drivers; it just means he can only update them when nVidia does.

Actually, NVIDIA does not provide laptop video driver updates. You're stuck with driver updates provided by the laptop manufacturer. Failing that, you might be able to find updates for similar laptops if your manufacturer fails to update theirs.

Best,

Use the Omega drivers, that's what I use for my laptop. Works great, and I can keep my drivers up-to-date.
