One Self Built Portaphile V2 portable headphone amplifier.
This amp features AD744 op-amps with the output taken from the compensation pin, Single BUF634 for the left and right channels two on the ground channel, there is no class A bias but otherwise all of the internal switches do function as intended. over sized 1000uF FM main capacitors, A red LED and a lovely natural aluminum Hammond 1455 series enclosure.

i guess it uses 9V batteries? is this rechargable?

looking for a good amp to pair with my DT-770's i'm about to buy . 250ohm version

No, unfortunately there is no battery re-charger circuit in this one.

The amp can be powered by either an internal 9 volt battery or an external 24 volt AC adapter.

(you do not have to remove the battery when you use an external power source)

do they even make 9v that can be recharged in a charger from say walmart?

Figure 8 to 10 hours for an alkaline battery or 6 to 8 hours for a NiMH rechargeable
and..
I can't say that I have ever seen rechargeable batteries at Wallwart but I usually order those from thomas-distributing so....

Of course they are.
"turning on" the output transistors in the op-amps (to reduce crosstalk) would be kind of a waste because they are bypassed.

(when the output is taken from the comp pin in the AD744 you bypass the op-amp's internal output stage which dramatically improves clarity)
