Since it was never opened, it'll be kind of hard for him to tell if there are issues or not.

Um... Duh.
The point was if he actually could check it out it might be worth not having whatever return policy I would get if buying from a retailer that I dont get from a personal seller.
Its "unopened" status is irrelevant where warrantees are concerned. Hence the only value that a new monitor of this type from a private seller has is that it can be checked out before it is sold.
