How much do you want for those drives? I need something dirt cheap for this old PC to replace the crappy 52x cdrom in it right now. I'm probably going to have to keep looking around and go with some old CD-ROM instead of a DVD-ROM though.

EDIT: In googling around a little, I notice rather a lot of people seem to be having troubles with that creative drive in Win2k and XP. Yet, creative's site implies it's a standard IDE drive, so I'm not sure what to think exactly. I'm not horribly concerned about if it's troublesome in NT since I'll be running it in Dos/Win9x, but, if it's not a standar IDE drive it could be a pain. Will it work with my universal ATAPI driver in DOS and 98SE not require any drivers? If it requires drivers to be loaded to work in windows, it'll probably be another thing making the whole thing more unstable (already getting BSODs and I just installed windows two days ago on it. Probably all those people I saw asking for drivers just didn't know what they were doing, but, I should check first obviously.

Same sort of question for the DVS and the TDK, though I didn't see a lot of people asking about those.

Bump

I haven't had ANY problems with the optical drives at all. All drives work under XP. They are standard IDE drives.

five-by-five: The H2O setup come with instructions? I'm a newbie to watercooling. Also, where can I get tubing? Home Depot? Ace?

That's what I thought, just checking. More important to me is the price though. How much are you asking?

I have 10' of blue UV tubing and there are no instructions included, but you can find lots of How-To's (
like this one) to help out.

Really it's not hard, you just have to take your time and do it right the first time, otherwise there might not be a second time for your computer!

Check out the WaterCooling section of the Overclocking & Cooling part of [H] where there are LOTS and LOTS of discussions about WC'in issues.

Nazo- Looking to trade right now. If by next Friday they aren't traded, I'll sell them.

Ah crap, I'm sorry. Lol, I found it via a search and didn't look at the thread title properly.

Just send me a PM if you don't trade them at some point. I'm taking my time to get this whole thing put together right, so I'm in no hurry on things. Assuming I don't find another first (there's one other that looks like a good deal, but, I'm not sure yet.)

I am interested in the digifire sound card.

*snip*

I have a few Plextors that I can part with, and some other things that are on your list.

Uhm, the STB Black Magic is basically just a V2 1000 PCI. I actually have one of those (in fact, I thought it was a reference card, but, now that I look, apparently it's the exact same card.) The thing is, V2 1000 PCI is a 3D ONLY card. When it does do 3D, it's pretty decent. One of them is a little better than a RivaTNT in 16-bit mode. When you SLI two it gets a pretty decent setup. Think Quake 2 era. MAYBE it could squeek by in Quake 3 with tolerable graphics. Maybe. The SLI setup would help since really each card is working on 640x480 to give you 1024x768 so that they actually perform better at a higher resolution.

It does grow a little warm, but I don't think it'd be enough to mess up any of your components. Back then cards weren't so sensitive, so it won't need any heatsinks or anything unless you want to overclock (I never tried that, didn't even know how back then.)

You'll still have to find a 2D card though. And, if AOE2 is what I think it is (Age of Empires 2) it looks to me from the system requirements that it's 2D only, meaning it's not going to matter what video card you get as long as it's not some old 1MB cheap thing. Your cpu is more than enough.

Thanks on the info.

visick:

I found another PCI card elsewhere so I am no longer interested in it.

I am still interested in the DIGIFIRE though.

Hey Tiny,

What Plextor's do ya have?
