Those ECC sticks will work on Xeons but most likely not on an i7 rig. Since the memory controller is in the CPU, only Xeon class AFAIK supports ECC.

I tried these sticks in my X58 ASUS Rampage II Gene board with a I7 920 D0 CPU and they worked fine in tripple channel and OCed to 1800Mhz 1.65V CL9
