general rack questions

OK so I'm moving into a new house, and the closet where my wire panel is (phone, network, coax, etc) is 5' or 6' deep, so I want to put in a rack, and put my servers in there (instead of in the computer room). I'd prolly put all a gigabit switch in too...

So I dont know squat about computer equipment racks... I'd like to get one that is about 24" or 28" deep, and 5-6' tall. I couldnt bolt it to the floor so its got to be somewhat freestanding (I'm going to put it on an antistatic mat, just coz i dont want to damage my ceramic tile floor).

Any suggestions?

Looks like you are in need of a 4 post rack in the 36-44U range. If I were you i'd check out your local craigslist.org listing and find a used rack. New these racks are pretty pricy, but you can get them for litterally pennies on the dollar used.
