my dad is being a rat bastard and i need to get into the router config but i dont have a clue as to his password? I dont suppose there is anyway around this?

i must get in!!!!!! either that or replace the router without him noticing! lol

your pretty much out of luck...most routers are decently secure or would require a lot of hacking.

Not to mention its not technically the best thing to be talking about

You ain't gonna get any help here. Network security is a pretty big deal around here. Just cause your dad is blocking myspace or porn sites or whatever isn't our problem.

Hehe...yeah your SOL here. In my honest opinion...buy a new router and switch it out :D

haha, nah he isnt blocking anything. hes not that much of a pain. i just need to open a few ports for game servers and such. I pretty much figured it would be a bad question to ask being its totally going against what people try and protect but ya know if never hurts to try.

o0hh and i was thinking about switching the routers but id have to worry about all the wireless devices that have set wep keys and such. would be too much of a pain to change them on the laptops, especially my dads which i cant get on

I didn't tell you this... but there's usually a reset button on most consumer routers. That is all.

Saying your dad a bastard, tell us what you are trying to do. No help for you.

just lock this thread!
no one needss to help this guy
he is hiding something

And if they have PPPoE DSL...say "bye bye internet access".

Uhm...who pays for the internet in this house? Electricity, utilities, etc?

Ah damn it, you spoiled the surprise.

OP: Respect your father in this. You sound remarkably young. Trust that in this, at least, he knows better than you. If not that, then trust that you don't know enough to beat whatever mechanical or logical roadblock he can put up.

You cant ask your dad to open some ports on the router? Sounds like your full of shit!

no, im 20. its just sometimes when we butt heads he loves to put a timeblock on the router to my xbox or whatever he chooses until i give in to his demands. Also no i cant ask him to open ports as well, i end up having to write a 5 page report on why i need it open usually and thats not a joke... He is extremely uptight about his router security being he does network security and management for a living.

thanks for the bashing
