I'll need to run either 1900x1200 or 2560x1600 resolution. Which notebook GPU's allow these resolutions?

Its just for Photoshop work, I don't expect to be running any games at this res.

For the 30" you'll need a video card that has a dual link DVI output

For the 24" VGA or (recommended) DVI will work fine

Well dual-link is not happening. I want to use a budget notebook. It looks like Intel's GMA 900 supports 1900x1200, so it should be fine if that's true.

The two options are a dual dvi notebook, or an external adapter, like a DigitalTigers SideCar FX Elite (basically an NVidia Quadro FX 600 in a box the size of a DVD drive connected through the PC Card slot)

A SideCar Elite is about $2300, meaning a laptop with integrated dual dvi is much cheaper. Going by GPU alone won't really help, as the actual output ports are decided by the laptop maker. Even if the chipset supports dual vga or dual dvi, doesn't mean you'll get those ports.
