With the recent launch of the GTX 770, I'm a bit confused.

I was going to buy the GTX 670 for ~300$ used.

But now the GTX 770 is out and costs ~410$ with no used in sight.

It seems silly to spend 33% more for a 10% increase in performance.. so I've been waiting for the GTX 670's to go down further in price, but they haven't.

Should I keep waiting?

I'm kind of in the same boat as you.

I already have a single GTX 670, but am wanting to go SLI when the prices drop (preferably in the ~250 price range).

It seems we may have to wait until the end of the year to see significant price drops on the 600 series... ;) Here's hoping that NVIDIA decides to lower the prices of the 600's before then.

Here's what was said about just that in the review of the MSI 770......

"The GeForce GTX 770 is obviously not meant for anyone upgrading from the GeForce GTX 680, or likely even the GTX 670. However, those that are using more mainstream video cards, might see an upgrade path with the GeForce GTX 770 at $399 now offering better than GTX 680 performance. Certainly those coming from last generation GeForce GTX 500 series have a more affordable upgrade now, being able to get better than GTX 680 performance at a much lower price than the GTX 680 launched at."

If it was me, and I already had a 670, I'd just buy another one used. There will be plenty of them on the forum for sale soon.....at good prices.....hint,hint.....watch for a couple coming out on the for-sale section this weekend....;)

im in the same boat. been looking for a used 670 for 250 but nobody is willing to let em go that cheap yet.

dont buy one for 300. not when a 760ti is going to be 300 at an equivalent speed of a 670 new. that doesnt make sense.

give it another month or so and 670s should be about 250. ima pick up a second one and watch my fps skyrocket ;D

I have been sitting on my second 670 FTW for a while now. I was all set to sell it in April cos I was sure Nvidia would do something like they did, but for some reason or another time flew by and here it still sits. Might just put it back in my system and wait another generation or two for a healthy performance bump. I certainly know work and money isn't going to be flowing like the Elbe.

If you can get a 670 used I say go for it. You could also wait for the GTX 760 which is supposed to be a carbon copy of the GTX 670. So long as they don't change that to just the Ti model then mark it up another embarrassing $100 like the 600 Series, you should be able to get it at $300. Later it'll allow you to probably pick up some sweet deals for another one to throw in SLI.

What I would do. Snatch the GTX 670 before the offer runs out, but hold out long enough and hope we can see some GTX 760 reviews/prices.

According to TPU, the GTX 760 will be released in one week on June 13th..

So, I guess I should wait until then?

Damnit, I really wanted a new card in time for E3!

Considering the GTX 770 is $400 MSRP it is very unlikely the GTX 760 will be over $300 MSRP since that would be rather congested pricing wise.

Ever since the GTX 760/770/780 rumors became solid my recommendation is that I personally would be extremely reluctant to upgrade to a GTX 660ti/7950 and upwards price range of cards unless you had a very good deal or it were urgent. Even the both versions of the 7870 (I actually think the regular 7870 is rather overpriced even before at least here considering its place in market, at least here) I would hesitate on.

A used GTX 670 at $300 seems a horrible deal to me at this point considering the impending new release. Look what GTX 680s are going for in FS for example.

Well, GTX 670 seems to be 15% more powerful than GTX 760, making GTX 770 25% more powerful. So, yes, it should be exactly 300$ while GTX 670 will likely remain at 350$, which it is now at.

In which case, doesn't it make more sense to get a GTX 670 for 250$ used than spend 300$ for a new GTX 760 that is 15% less powerful?

Yes. I decided to skip the 700 series since only the 780 would be a worthy upgrade if it had a pinch more VRAM.(for my setup at least.)

Like another said, 2gb 680's are selling toward the low $300's.

Except you mentioned a GTX 670 at $300 not $250. At $300 I would have said the price is only certainly going to go down and not up so you might as well wait and see.

Also it would be dependent on how sure you are of those performance numbers and whether or not the price will in fact be $300 and not lower.

But as I mentioned if you feel like you are getting a "deal" then you can go for the older cards. But I wouldn't pay the typical or higher end asking prices for them at this point for sure. Some people in FS for example seem to still be wanting $300 for their 670s stating the new cards have not released yet but I would not go for those.

Yeah, but GTX 680 is only like 7.5% faster than GTX 670.

But if GTX 680's are selling for 300$.. where are my 250$ GTX 670's?

Most likely people are still trying to hold out for that price before more people are aware and the new cards actually hit the market.

id like to see a source for those numbers you are providing.

the 760ti is identical to the 670 with the exception of bandwidth the last time i checked which will not end up being 15% at all.

According to my information, the GTX 760 has 1152 ALU's, to the GTX 670's 1344.

I've upgraded from a oced 660 ti to a 770 sc and it's still a pretty noticable increase. However if your coming from a 670 I don't think it would be worth it. Unfortunately my 660 ti is now being bottlenecked by my other pc that has a e8400, so I doubt I will keep it.

I just sold my MSI GTX 670 Power edition for $320 used (for only 2 months), its $369 on newegg right now, so since I have barely used it, I figured I'd still get a good price for it.

IMO, $80 for a MSI TF GTX 770 isn't bad.

I didn't have $250 or $300 to drop on a second video card, and my current motherboard doesn't have 2 PCIe slots either. So no SLI for me anyways.

Isn't the 770 more like 25 percent better then the 670? And of course no used in sight, it's a brand new GPU.

if both the 660ti and 770 are oced then the 770 is only about 20-25% faster. I only paid $230 for my 660ti and it came with AC 3 that I sold for 25 bucks so its hard to justify spending twice as much for the 770 when its all said and done. AMD is supposedly showing some cards at E3 on June 11-13 so hopefully will be some new competition.

Gonna be interesting to see 760 Ti performance and pricing. This might be my next video card as I find it hard to justify spending top dollar to run 1080p. I just switched over to a 32" 1080p monitor, and I find that it's more than sufficient for regular desktop use plus occasional gaming. Plus I love the extra size!

A friend and i have identical systems (same board, ram, cpu, ssd..etc) and we both did a valley benchmark to compare our cards. He has an MSI gtx770 OC and i have an MSI gtx670 OC overclocked +60 on the core, and +600 on memory (1254mhz core/7204mhz memory) and my card benchmarked higher than his, but very very close! (sorry for the poor image quality on the 770)
