I got it to $1,709 and then the price jumped up to over $2k and said my discount was $355.

Link to the starter laptop you used?

I edited the link into the original post so people don't get confused.

Yeah it would be nice to get a 1900x1200 screen. Sucks that this one caps at 1440x900

I'm going to bump this for the last day it is up.
Also you can do this:
Sell the 8GBs and the T9550 and buy a cheaper CPU and 4GB of RAM. I'm guessing you can make 300$ profit (Maybe more, I don't know what the T9550 sells for and for how much you can get a T6500 or something CPU) of this bringing the price down to ~750$ for a very nicely speced notebook.

So buy a replacement LCD panel off fleaBay and swap it out. I do that all the time with 15.4" < 1680x1050 panels, mostly 1280x800 ones. I can't stand that resolution, nor 1440x900 so when I end up with a laptop that has such a panel in it, wham, off I go looking for a replacement WSXGA+ to swap it for and I'm happy... ;)

Are laptop screens easily replaceable? I've never done it. Is it hard?

Not too bad, just don't lose your parts and be extra careful. you also do not want to force anything. I would say anyone with decent computer building knowledge could do it if they are careful.

Win 7 is also included. FYI =).

PS can u guys post your potential spex so get it down to $1k?

Damn, I managed to knock off $700 off the $1750 configured price of the 1520. If I were in the market for a good laptop, I'd probably be all over this!

If you want you can downgrade the CPU a bit to a P8700 and get the price down to around 1020$ sub-total.
EDIT: Oh I forgot that the hard drive is a bit small. You can either replace it or upgrade it to a 250gb one for ~24$
