Okay, so the 52" 120 hz LG on the black friday fry's deal *was* obviously a better deal if you didn't mind waiting 24+ hours out in the cold on thanksgiving day , but after four days of nonstop online tv deal browsing, I ended up biting the crap out of this one:

It normally goes for $2,400+ at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-52PFL...3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227983749&sr=8-3

Lots of good reviews too!

Hope this helps others who were in a similar situation in looking for a good 52" HDTV deal only to be dissapointed on friday. :p

edit: holy crap it sold out already. O__O
edit 2: back in stock but now it's 1377, sorry to all who may have wanted but missed it at the original $1200 price. :{

i know a couple people with phillips sets. they seem just as reliable as the rest and have pretty decent image quality. great deal here.

What he said- not one review I've read in which this philips (this model at least) has become the subject of any issue.

BTW it's back in stock but they raised the price to $1377- still a good deal given how much they normally go for and how beautiful the picture quality is but definetely not as scorching as what my receipt says! :D

I'd be willing to bet that Philips kicks the LG's ass on most things: color, motion handling, probably even better black level/shadow details.
