Well? Lets hear some experiences of HL2 with the venerable M6805. I've been having pretty good luck with Doom 3 on my machine, but I haven't heard anything about HL2 on it yet. I guess I'm holding off on buying until I hear from some of you of your experiences.

I don't have one, but I'm quite certain HL2 will run fine. It's made to work on a multitude of systems, and the M6805 is hardly a slouch. :)

I'm 10 min from completion of Steam download on my Dell 8600 (1.6 P-M with 9600-128MB). Don't get to play until lunch, buy I'm very excited to see if it will play. If it doesn't...oh well. I've got my 3.2 with 6800 at home ;)

I installed HL2 this morning on my T42P; it played just fine w/ settings high at 1024x768 (no AA, no AF).

the 68xx should do just fine...

latest Omegas.

(now if only I could get Doom3 working...curse you FireGL and your stupid OpenGL drivers!)

It should run fine. The M6805 has faster video than the Mobility 9600 Pro Turbo i'm using. Mine runs at about 40fps with reflect world, rest of settings high, trilinear and no AA at 1280x768. It looks great, too. :D

Plays in the mid 40's on my 8600. Woot! Lunch time will not be the same for the next few days ;)

no it doesn't, the 9600 Pro Turbo is the fastest 9600 availible. I believe the 68xx only has a regular 9600, which i believe is only clocked 300/250 or something like that. the pro turbo is definitely clocked higher than that. also your comp has 128mb of ram while the 68xx only has 64mb.

I have the emachines M6810 and I dont have a problem running it. Havent played too much HL2, been messing around with CS:S. I average out about 60 fps (Depending on what areas of Aztec, Dust, and Dust 2 I am in I can up to 90 to 100 FPS). Im running the game in 1024x768. I tried going to 1280x800 Widescreen and got about 30 FPS. Im using the lastest Omega Drivers

I thought all the m68xx laptops had 9600 Pro or 9700 chips. My mistake.

I will be playing it on my m6805 soon. But not nearly soon enough. It will be a few days still.

I am sure it will run just fine.

9600s, but VERY overclockable ones. People have been able to overclock it beyond the 9600 Pro fairly easily.

I remember seeing very good overclocks. That's probably what confused me.

My 9600 Pro Turbo is a horrible overclocker on the core... I can barely get 30MHz more than default on it. The memory is much better. It seems to do 40-50MHz DDR higher (80-100MHz) stable.

runs fine on my m6810. everything is stock and I have a lot of the settings turned up high.

I can run HL2 @ 800x600 with everything maxed out + 4x AF CS Source same settings, in the stress test for CS;S it says 85fps so i'm doing just fine.

Well my m6805 is bone stock, no upgraded ram or anything. And I have the slow hard drive.

It runs at 848xwhatever widescreen on mine with all options on high and AA at 2x. IT runs pretty good considering this is a 64 meg video card. But it is choppy and I have almost 5 minute load times between levels.

Now in all fairness I am still waiting on my LEgit copy to get here so I am playing a warez copy. Which could be part of my problem.

But I see about 30fps most of the time.
