I'm trying to decided on one of these HD and can't seem to make up my mind.
Can someone advice me on which is the better buy?
Only thing that I see that is diffrent is the Buffer size, Is that important?

Seagate 80GB [ Link ]
Western Digital 80GB [ Link ]

Thanks for the help.

The added buffer is a definate good thing. Since they are the same price go for the WD.

The WD is a better choice due to the extra buffer. Also, I have had great experiences with their support people in the past.

That said, I would go for a SATA drive if the mobo supports it.

Of course, one could argue that the longer warranty on the Seagate makes it a better buy. I'm not saying that it is, I'm just saying it's something to consider.

Seagate makes good drives. If I were you, I'd go for a Seagate with a larger buffer than the one you've selected, even if it does cost a little more.

Your comparing drives from the two best manufacturer's, IMHO, so you can't lose either way in terms of reliability. But, as others have said, if you have to choose between those two, the WD will easily be the faster of the two. There's no comparison in performance. That part makes me throw my vote to the WD drive.
