Hard drive choices

well im getting low on space on my external 320 gb and i think it is time to expand. This is just going to be a hdd for my every thing pc but i was wonder what would be a good hdd choice just for a media drive? I would like to have a lot of space i was thinking a tb but i hear bad stories about them.
