Having to unplug the modem with dual boot

Each time I boot into vista from XP or vice versa I have to unplug my modem, wait some time, then plug it in again in order to get a net connection. This becomes quite tiring since I'm regularly switching back and forth between each OS. Is there any way around this issue?
