having trouble connecting xbox 360 via microsoft wireless adapter

My 360 directly 1 floor below my router. I bought a Microsoft wireless adapter recently and having trouble connecting. Everytime i try to test the xbox live, it fails to get an ip address. I try to input the IP address manually, but to no avail. Anyone know how i can connect? or what is my problem. Thanks in advance.


*EDIT* btw, i have a Linksys WRT54G router
 
Check your WEP settings. I tried to use 64-bit WEP on my wireless access point, but I found that the wireless adapter would only work with either 128-bit WEP, or none at all. I'd suggest turning off WEP until you get a connection, and lock it back down.
 
On the 360 it's on the System Blade in the Network Settings, but I'd also try turning it off on your router first. Get Connected, then worry about securing it.
