HDD help please!

Ive got a buddy thats runnin a p4 2.something ghz proc, 1gig of ram, 9800 pro 256, listed the hardware just in case somebody asks. Few weeks ago, he starts having issues seeing his drives. Hes got 2 IDE drives, 40gig and 160gig if i remember correctly. Games started crashing on him, and upon the first reboot, hes comp would not recognize the drive. Now, it wont recognize either of his drives, hes tried swapping known good cables, and still gets the same result. I'm guessing its could be the PSU, or the MOBO (one of the HDD's is only a month or two old, so im guessing its not the drives). Gonna try swapping out the PSU tomorrow to see if it could be that. Anything else aside from trying a new MOBO that might help us diagnose this? Any ideas on stuff we might try?

Download the diagnostic software from the manufacturer and test them out.

Also try them on another computer.
