I'm looking for a laptop to take to university this fall.

I'm not planning to game on it, so I don't need a hugely powerful processor, but I'd like to stay away from Celeries.

I'd like a DVD-ROM and 802.11g. Weight (although I don't want an ultra-portable, I'd like a 14-15" screen), portability, durability and battery life are all fairly important. In terms of price, I only want to keep it around $2000 canadian, but I could go as high as $2500 or so.

Thanks for the input guys. I had a look at the T42, it looks sweet, and would certainly fit what I'm looking for. Unfortunately it does start at about $2500 cdn, which is the upper range of what I can get to spend on it, and cheaper would be better.

I'll keep it in mind, but do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again.

I had a Tecra for a while, it was very nice.

I just ordered an IBM T41p today direct through IBM with my school discount.

14.1" SXGA screen
128mb FireGL T2
60gb 7200rpm hd
cd/dvd combo
512mb ram
1.7ghz bania

all for 2450 shipped to my door including taxes. Considering this laptop is 3219 without any discounts and before taxes, I got one hell of a deal....IBM laptops kick ass

Oh and by the way the 128mb FireGL T2 is the same thing as the 64mb 9600 except for the extra ram and the drivers are geared toward buisness apps
