Helpful little bit of Doom3 advice...

Bind the right mouse key to your "flashlight". Then instead of having to hit F or a weapon button, or scroll down, all of which are a bit challenging to do when something pops out at you, you can just rightclick and start firing with the last weapon you had equipped.

It's definitely saved my butt a few times since I started doing it.
