hello there.

been looking for an upgrade to my current laptop, and I noticed there aren't as many hi-res 15.4" laptops out there as I thought. I like photography and have good eyesight, so a 1900x1200 wouldn't be too much... though I'd settle for a 1680x1050 (with a video board to match, of course). I found a dell with a 1900x1200 screen, but there's no option for a blu-ray reader (only with a recorder, and that's an extra 400 bucks for a total of around 1900). anyone know of any other maker that sells one of those with a blu-ray-r for around 1500 bucks or less? I wouldn't mind having it all customized. I know one store that does that in france, but I'm getting this one in the US...

thanks in advance.

you can try customizing a hp dv7t with a 9600m gt and bluray player

did you mean dv5t? I just did that on their website and it's perfect. 1680x1050, 9600M GT and blu-ray reader for 1477... best choice yet. thanks!

yeah that's what i meant. for some reason i mistakenly read that you needed a 17 inch

Asus G50V-A2 is your answer. A bit over $1,500 though ($1,839 from gentechpc.com)

Ohh Mario you totally beat me to it. The Asus g50v-A2 will be mine in a week or two. Looks like the best laptop ever.
I don't know if you've used a 15.4 inch screen at 1920x1200 but IMO it's a bit to tiny, and I am a resolution whore.

thanks mario, that's a good tip. though I could really do without the 2 hds/500gb capacity and a couple of bells and whistles it comes with... for now, the hp dv5t (or the dv5z, which, from what I've seen, is less stylish and cheaper) is my choice. they both are available with a 1680x1050 screen and blu-ray reader for slightly under 1500 (dv5t) or around 1300 (dv5z)...
