HL2 preload problem

Im trying to download the next part of the pre-load of HL2 on steam and it wont let me. Its on 69 percent. and when i hit continue it does nothing, i keep trying and no luck. it doesnt say servers are full or anything like that. i tried yesterday for awhile and no luck. so i figured its probably a server problem or something. so i waited until today to try and it still does the same thing and wont let me continue. any clues?
 
yeah that happens.. steams bandwidth is full and that happened to me once.. when i was first preloaded hl2 0% it says steam server is full.. but when my dl starts anything other than 0% it dont display that steam is full so just try again later.. it will work.. and make sure ur not playing any games while preloading
 
cool thanxs, ill just keep trying and hope for the best. not in that big of a hurry anyways :D
 
i'm not sure if that's the case, mine is stuck on 69% and does the exact same thing as yours...i guess it could be a coincidence
 
same here, and let it sit all day/night with the same problem.
 
close steam, delete "counter-strike source shared content.gcf" from ...\Steam\SteamApps\ directory, then reopen steam, it will continue preloading (from like 58%, but it's better than it not preloading at all.
 
Do you never shut down? Close Steam and reopen it; somehow I think it re-initializes your connection to Steam. Worked for me.
 
I just got the bronze package on Steam Friday and have been playing CS:S all weekend but I started preloading HL2 this morning and I am at 71% so far.

Off topic question.....how come Steam never saves my "Favorite Servers" list? Every time I add a server or two and then stop playing a little while later, I start it back up to play again after a while and there is nothing in my "Favorite Servers" list?

Also, will the Steam people get HL2 before it hits store shelves?
 
Where is the option to start the download of HL2?

I Just installed Steam from the website - but I don't see where I can select the download?
 
well if i delelte counter-strike source shared content.gcf it works fine, and it goes back to about 59% and will download to 100%. but then after about a day i go back on and its stopped at 88% and wont go anywhere. so i delete counter-strike source shared content.gcf again and i goes to 70% something and starts downloading, and goes to 100% just fine. and now i just got back on about 2 days later and its back at 88% and wont go anywhere. and not more pre-loads have been released. just phase 6 and i already got that. what should i do. should i just start from scratch. im going to pre-order the game next wedneday. and i want to have it all pre-loaded so im ready to play when i comes out. hmmmm..... what should i do now.

Same here. The only thing that stays in my favorites are the servers that I had in there from CSS beta. What gives?
 
anybody? im thinking about starting the pre-load from scratch and just let it run overnight or something. how do i go about starting from scratch. should i just hit the cancel button. or do i need to go into the steam folder and delete things, and if so what things. thanxs, november 16th is coming up fast.

you have all the data, its a steam bug where if you haven't payed for hl2 it shows 88% even though it's all preloaded, they should be updating steam at some point to fix it.
 
maybe steam detected that you bought one of those WAAY overpriced Dell "custom gaming rigs" and since it knows your a sheep in wolves clothing it won't let you finish downloading.

ALthough in all actuality its probably because you have some nasty spyware/malware/virus on your rig because you chat in yahoo chat to much , and download to much goatporn! Try running adaware and see if it works after you do a complete system scan.

thanxs for the comment, ill try to keep that it mind. i would also like to ask u if the 6800 is the best card out :rolleyes:

yah, im going to actaully buy the game off of steam this wednesday. so ill see if it goes to 100% after i do that. and ill also wait for that steam update like Xtasy0 said.
 
the "6800" is not the best card out but the "6800 ultra" is the best card out in the nvidia line up ;) so if u meant the ultra then yeah its the best card out... which is comparable to ati x800xt.. the best card in the ati line up.. so umm yeah :)
