Hooking Up Two IDE Drives

I have a Plextor PX-740A and an old 52x CDROM. I want to hook both up. Should I put them on separate IDE channels (I have no other IDE equipment but these 2 drives) or have a slave/master setup on 1 channel.

If you don't have any other ide drives, you can put them on separate channels. Just in case you were ever using them both at once, you might get slightly better performance.

The downside is you'll have another cable to route, so if you don't want to do that, put them both on one cable as master/slave.

The cables in my case are already all over the place. Adding another won't hurt. I'll put it on another channel.
